Injection Molding Machine Maintenance Guide

The maintenance of injection molding machines must adhere to a three-tiered system: Daily, Periodic (Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly/Annual), and Specialized Maintenance. The core objectives are to extend equipment lifespan, ensure production precision, and reduce failure rates. The following is a detailed, modular maintenance plan.

I. Daily Maintenance (Required Per Shift/Daily – Simple Operations, Involving All Personnel)

  • Appearance and Cleaning

    • Clean plastic debris and dust from the machine body, worktable, and hopper to prevent foreign objects from entering the barrel or guide rails.

    • Wipe dust from the surface of the electrical control cabinet and check that the cabinet door seals are intact to prevent dust ingress that could cause circuit failures.

  • Lubrication System Inspection

    • Check the oil level in the lubricant reservoir, ensuring it is between the upper and lower limit marks. Top up with the same model of lubricating oil if insufficient.

    • Observe whether the lubricating pump is functioning normally. Check if there is an oil film at all lubrication points (tie-bars, guide rails, screw tail). Investigate pump body or line blockages immediately if no oil is present.

  • Hydraulic System Inspection

    • Check the oil level in the hydraulic reservoir. The oil must be clear, free of impurities, and not emulsified. Filter or replace the oil promptly if it appears cloudy.

    • Inspect hydraulic lines and fittings for leaks. Tighten connections or replace seals immediately upon detecting any leakage.

  • Safety Device Check

    • Test emergency stop buttons and safety door limit switches for responsiveness, ensuring the machine stops immediately when triggered.

    • Inspect protective covers and guards to ensure they are intact, without looseness or deformation.

  • Post-Production Shutdown

    • Before shutdown, purge remaining material from the barrel to prevent carbonization. For heat-sensitive materials (e.g., PVC), thoroughly purge the barrel using purging compounds like PE or PP.

    • Turn off electrical power, air supply, and water supply. Empty the hopper of any moisture-absorbed material.
